Natalja Kent is a Czech-American artist based in Los Angeles. Her work investigates ecological interdependence, radical self care and the perceived limitations of sensory perception. Areas of research include embodiment practices, environmental policy, displaced diasporic ancestral practices, visual/sensoral knowledge systems, and image archives. Studio, material experimentation is central to her practice and includes time-based photograms, embodied drawing, landscape painting, interactive sculpture and experimental film.
Volunteer work is integral to her practice and includes groups such as Surfridder Foundation, Heal the Bay, The Marine Mammal Center, Girls Rock Camps, and has worked with conservation groups such as the Upper Los Angeles Region Watershed, Queer Surf, Coastal Alliance, The California Native Plant Society and the Natural History Museum.
